Sarp Border Gate, Türkiye’s border crossing with Georgia, was modernized by GTİ and opened for operation in 2009. It is the busiest land border crossing point in Türkiye with Georgia and the Caucasus. It takes its name from the village of Sarp, located in the Kemalpaşa district of Artvin province.

The increasing trade volume between Türkiye and Georgia, coupled with the transition for citizens of both countries to cross with only their ID cards instead of passports, has highlighted the need for the restructuring of the Sarp Border Gate. By the end of 2018, the modernization efforts were completed, resulting in an expansion of the area from 36,000 square meters to 46,340 square meters. Services commenced for drivers and passengers with a total of 4 platforms, consisting of 2 entry and 2 exit lanes for cars and buses, and 8 platforms for trucks, with 4 entry and 4 exit lanes.

At the Sarp Border Gate, there are Duty-Free shops, dining areas, a supermarket, ATMs, and an insurance agency. Additionally, there are areas where passengers can fulfil their personal needs such as restrooms and prayer rooms. Duty-Free shops, conveniently located separately for passengers and trucks, allow our guests to shop comfortably and enjoy their time in restaurants and cafes.
